About The Group

Coronavirus (COVID-19): In the light of the risks and uncertainties surrounding the current public health situation, we have regretfully decided that the wisest course is to suspend our group meetings until further notice.

The situation will remain under close review and we will announce any developments.

With our best wishes to all our members.

We are a friendly independent Buddhist meditation group meeting weekly on Wednesday evenings at 7:00pm in ,The Oak Room at the Natural Health Centre, Waterside, The Plains.Totnes, TQ9 5DW. There is disability access up to the center and up to the room. Tea and coffee are available for the small donation of twenty pence.

We have a number of teachers who regularly lead the evening, giving some meditation instruction and Dharma (the Buddha’s) teachings. We have close links with Gaia House, and many of our teachers also teach there.

Whilst we follow the Buddhist tradition, we are not closely linked to any particular school of Buddhism, and our teachers come from many different backgrounds (Thai Forest, Theravada, Vipassana, Zen, Tibetan etc….)

The evening begins with some chanting, followed by 40 minutes meditation, some teaching and discussion – often ending with a short meditation and/or some more chanting.

Newcomers are always welcome. Please bring your own cushion or bench if you prefer to sit on the ground.

We suggest a donation of £3 to £5 to help pay for the costs of the room and teachers’ dana.
